History
The primary history curriculum at Waverton Primary School is designed to be broad, ambitious, and knowledge rich. It enables children to develop a sense of curiosity and wonder about the past. It helps them understand how the past has shaped the present and how people and events have changed over time.
Chronology: To develop children's chronological understanding; organising children’s understanding of when in the past they are learning about and how this relates to what they have learned previously
Historical evidence: To help children understand how historians know about the past; how we can use this and the limitations
To help children understand historical concepts, such as change, cause and effect, and significance.
To help children to develop their research skills, so they can find out information about the past.
Reasons and results: To encourage children to ask questions about the past and to seek answer and make links and comparisons.
Interpretations: To help children to understand different perspectives on historical events.
Knowing where in the world. using maps to develop an understanding about where in the world things happened.
