Geography
At Waverton Primary, our geography curriculum is designed to inspire a lifelong curiosity and fascination about the world and its people. We aim to give pupils a deep understanding of the Earth’s physical and human processes and how these change over time. Our geography curriculum is designed to be ambitious, coherent and progressive and equips children with the knowledge, skills and vocabulary to make sense of the world around them, understand their place within it and make informed decisions as global citizens.
We aim to:
· Develop pupils’ locational knowledge of the United Kingdom and the wider world.
· Deepen understanding of place, exploring similarities and differences between local, national and global environments.
· Build secure knowledge of key physical and human geographical processes, and how these interact to shape the world around us
· Equip pupils with a range of geographical skills, including mapwork, fieldwork, data interpretation, and digital mapping.
· Encourage pupils to consider sustainability and the impact of human actions on the environment.
· Inspire pupils to ask questions about the world, seek answers and make connections.
