Welcome to Year 1
I hope you all had a lovely summer, and the children are eager to start in Year 1. I loved meeting all the class during our move up lesson in July, but I’m looking forward to getting to know them even more and support their transition from EYFS to KS1 in the following weeks. We would like to share a few details about how we work in Year 1.
This term we will be learning:
History or Geography |
History of transport – How it has changed, transport we use today. We will be learning about Amelia Earhart and her life and achievements. |
Science |
Our body and senses. Identify, name, draw and label basic body parts and be able to link them to our senses. |
English |
‘Mr Gumpy’s outing’ by John Burningham. Non-fiction about transport and poetry – ‘The train ride’ by June Crebbin. |
Maths |
Numbers to 10, Part-whole within 10, Addition within 10, subtraction within 10, 2D & 3D shapes |
PE |
Dance – Animals, Fundamental movements skills 1 |
RE |
Christianity – Belonging. |
Computing |
N/A first half term. We will use iPads to record images and use as part of our learning in class. |
