Year 4 2019 - 2020

Mr Simpson

Welcome to our Year 4 class page.

Week Beginning 6/07/20

Hello Year 4,

By now you will have received the exciting news that Year 4 will be able to come back to school, albeit in two groups over two days, at the end of term. I am really, really looking forward to seeing you all again and this will give us a lovely opportunity to finish off this very strange year. It will also give you an opportunity to see your friends and have some fun together for one last time as Year 4s. You will receive more details about this very soon.

In the meantime, next week is Arts Week and to celebrate this all the 'other' activities will have an arts theme. Have fun!

Stay safe and positive,

Mr Simpson x

To help you continue learning while you are away from school, follow the timetable below. This timetable is intended as a guide to support learning at home during a prolonged period of school closure. We appreciate that you will have differing demands on your time but hope that this helps in continuing 'a love of learning' at home.

The timetable below is designed to help structure each day, if you are able to follow it. If not, just do what you can!  Remember, the main thing is to have fun and stay safe!  Take care,

Mr Simpson

Remember our rules about online safety.

PE & FITNESS ACTIVITIES & IDEAS  FOR HOMESCHOOLING

Please click on the link below to find video links for ideas of how to keep fit and healthy whilst the school is closed.

Try to be active for at least an hour every day!

https://homelearning.primarypepassport.co.uk/#/

Click on the 'videos' tab right at the top next to 'Home' tab, (not the videos/activities/Keep active icons further down the page). There are numerous video clips of different ideas to try to keep you fit.

The 'external links' tab next to it also has some great 5 minute exercise clips by Joe Wicks on Youtube, plus there is a wealth of activity ideas on the BBC Supermovers website which combine English and Maths activities with PE.

Don't forget too that Joe Wickes is doing a daily workout for kids every morning at 9am on youtube.

Message from Mrs Croft SENCO

We appreciate this is a challenging time, I wanted to share this quote that has been circulating between schools. If after one day of home learning, you are wondering how you’ll get through the next few weeks read this, take a break, then start again tomorrow!

‘Arguing with your kids to do work is not what anyone needs right now. Instead, cuddle up together and read, read, read. Take turns reading. Read them your favourite novel (yes, you can read novels to small children). Do a puzzle. Build a fort. Bake. Watch TV together. Paint. Get out the lego and build together. Set up a tent in your living room and camp out. Look at photos of when you were a kid. In other words… Don’t stress about them forgetting. Don’t stress about home schooling them. Just spend time together. Your kids won’t learn much if they’re feeling stressed. Though this is a scary time, it could very well be a time they remember as the best time in their life.’

If you are feeling anxious, or would just like tips on relaxation for yourself and your child, download the smiling mind app. It’s great to do with the whole family. I use it when I can’t sleep. There are programs for different ages. It’s great! I have also put a list of charities and helpline phone numbers on my SENCO page. Stay safe and well.

Mrs Croft
