Beginning this week the Department for Education have produced online phonics lessons for each day, linked to our normal Letters and Sounds planning.  Please read letter in file downloads to explain more.  If you need any help as to which Phase would be most appropriate for your child drop me an email and I'll be happy to help.

This timetable is intended as a guide to support learning at home during a prolonged period of school closure.  We appreciate that you will have differing demands on your time but hope that this helps in continuing a 'love of learning' at home.  Thank you for your support during this challenging time and wish you and your family the best of health.

Message from Mrs Croft SENCO

We appreciate this is a challenging time, I wanted to share this quote that has been circulating between schools. If after one day of home learning, you are wondering how you’ll get through the next few weeks read this, take a break, then start again tomorrow!

‘Arguing with your kids to do work is not what anyone needs right now. Instead, cuddle up together and read, read, read. Take turns reading. Read them your favourite novel (yes, you can read novels to small children). Do a puzzle. Build a fort. Bake. Watch TV together. Paint. Get out the lego and build together. Set up a tent in your living room and camp out. Look at photos of when you were a kid. In other words… Don’t stress about them forgetting. Don’t stress about home schooling them. Just spend time together. Your kids won’t learn much if they’re feeling stressed. Though this is a scary time, it could very well be a time they remember as the best time in their life.’

If you are feeling anxious, or would just like tips on relaxation for yourself and your child, download the smiling mind app. It’s great to do with the whole family. I use it when I can’t sleep. There are programs for different ages. It’s great! I have also put a list of charities and helpline phone numbers on my SENCO page. Stay safe and well.

Mrs Croft
